Type A Align at IMA's 100 Acres Park
iFabalignweb.jpg

iFab was contracted to fabricate Type A Team Building (Align) for the Indianapolis Museum of Art's 100 Acres Park.  The sculpture is constructed of 3" diameter aluminum tubing with bracing that was roll formed and assembled to create two 30 foot diameter rings.  The structure was then skinned with 1/8" thick aluminum plate and welded, ground and sanded to appear as a single continuous surface. The sculpture was moved on site in 6 pieces with final fabrication of 2 complete rings concluded at 100 Acres.  iFab set three 55 foot tall telephone poles to suspend the sculpture and did all rigging and wire work to complete the project.  Following the direction of the artist's and astronomer consultant, iFab was able to locate each ring at the precise height and offset to allow the shadows on the ground to merge into one at local noon on the summer solstice.  For more information on the project follow the links below.

iFab built i-beam design's Green Springs for the small architecture, BIG LANDSCAPES exhibition at the Swope Art Museum.  iFab was contracted to do all fabrication and museum installation for this project.  The project is constructed of mild and stainless steel, found bedsprings, paint, wood and translucent board.  It was built to disassemble easily and pack in a few manageable pieces.  Stainless nut inserts were flush welded into the framework and the parts spray painted with industrial enamel.  Due to the museum's conservation concerns, the dirt in the planters was baked and fake plant material was used to insure no undesirables would contaminate the museum's collection.

iFab was commissioned by Chicago designer Felicia Ferrone and Volume Gallery to realize the Lume Chandelier - an LED mobile light fixture with dim-able LEDs.  iFab handled all fabrication and design development in house and iFab solved the fixture’s electronic and electrical needs requiring a single cable to electrify the piece and also providing the structure, all the while keeping it in balance as a mobile.

S&B Construction sub-contracted iFab to reproduce missing cast iron columns for the Franklin Development Corporation renovation of 120 East Jefferson Street, Franklin, IN.  Using current techniques of computer driven and standard fabrication processes iFab reproduced the decorative columns from sheet steel.  iFab also fabricated a 100 sq. ft. decorative steel balcony for the building and performed all related installation procedures.
